“Taking the larger view of overall strategy? There never was time for that. It was fun to be with Madeleine for coffee and think about why I work and what I want it to be like in 3 to 5 years and even farther out in my future.”

Once my client’s passion and goals were clear to me, I was able to use key information and documents to create a strategic foundation and personalized path to reach those targets. Important legal clauses were drafted for use in future contracts and licenses. Also, I was able to connect my client to a team of professionals whom I trust, so they could be available when my client reaches milestones that require their specialized assistance.

“If you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there.”

This thought, attributed to Henry Kissinger, is especially true in when thinking about careers and reputations that seem to evolve one activity at a time. Clients concerned about influencing their future will want to talk with me to plan ahead. Typically, I begin by asking you three deceptively simple questions:

1) Is each of your works copyright protected, and does your accountant know about that?
2) Is trademark registration appropriate to facilitate some of your marketing?
3) Would a small effort now mean your work would be an asset on your financial statement, or is your exhausting pace and focus on today exposing you to financial loss years from now?”

The pace and costs of the discussions are entirely in each client’s control. We set a routine that is convenient and work toward a defined set of materials to secure the client’s future. Periodic follow up meetings enable us to assure effective progress.
